My uncle likes to say back in the days, when he first arrive on this very shores, there is only fish and chips. There was no such thing as Asian Grocery and very few chinese eatery places and they are modified for the western palate. If you have Asian cravings you can eat with your imagination.
Nowadays there are many Asian franchise like PapaRich and you can always rock up if you feel like nasi lemak. Even if they don't really taste like home, they still taste authentic enough. I grew up with nasi lemak. In fact my mum said when she was pregnant with me, she had to have 2 packets a day. I wonder if that is why I look less Chinese... anyway Uncle said I am blessed to have arrived on this shores where Asian culture is very much established now.
My nasi lemak craving is always satisfied here, unlike durian.... and my top 3 favorite nasi lemak are..
No 3 - Aunty Sue Nasi Lemak (sold only on weekends)- My Aunt said back in the days when she first arrive, it only sells for $3.00 per packet. Now it sells $6.00 per packet. Friends in Boleh Land will say can eat 20 over times of nasi lemak bungkus, but when you have cravings.....

No 2 - Uncle's home made nasi lemak. Uncle always put a lot of effort in his nasi lemak and we get telur bom and ayam masak merah or even ayam rendang to go with it but he always forgot to add the beer nuts.
No 1 - Nite's Nasi Lemak - Yes I repeat NITE's NASI LEMAK, rated the best in Koala land by my gut. The sambal is just amazing though she tried to do me in once with her latest volcano concoction. Though I survive the encounter I would have died happy. She always remember the beer nuts and she can't stop eating the ones left in the container. Nothing gets wasted in Nite's home.
Despite how many times I eat this, I always have room for more.
